NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.
You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.

Narellan Vale PS Religion and Ethics
Special Religious Education (SRE) at Narellan Vale Public School:
Special Religious Education (SRE) lessons are held weekly at Narellan Vale Public School. The lessons are delivered every Tuesday. Kindergarten to Year 2 students take part in lessons from 2-2:30pm. Year 3 to Year 6 students take part in lessons from 2:30-3pm.
On enrolment, parents and carer indicate approval for their child to participate in Special Religious Education lessons. After the initial enrolment, parents and carers are required to provide a written letter to change a student’s enrolment in an SRE class. This written approval should be sent to the Administration Office to ensure students records are updated.
All Special Religious Education providers provide the school with current Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearances to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
The following Special Religious Education lessons are provided at Narellan Vale Public School:
Special Religious Education (SRE)- Protestant
Protestant Scripture lessons are provided by the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. SRE educators are provided by Narellan Anglican Church to lead the learning experiences. Students not attending Special Religious Education lessons:
Students who do not attend SRE classes are to be provided with supervised alternative meaningful activities. This could include reading, private study or completing homework. During this learning time students are in a separate physical space from SRE classes and are supervised by a member of the school staff.
